Because of the national VIPS Program, the Fairfax County Police Department is able to broaden our base of potential volunteers not only within Northern Virginia but throughout the country by use of the VIPS Website.

Program Description

The Freeport Auxiliary Police are a group of everyday citizens from all walks of life that provide a community service to the citizens of Freeport. All members are non-paid volunteers who take pride in their service to their community.

Under the control and direction of the Chief of Police and the Auxiliary Commanders, Auxiliary Officers are called upon to provide supplemental manpower to the Police Department for traffic and crowd control during major fires, storms, and during other disaster situations. They provide supplemental security functions at fire scenes, crime scenes and at other times deemed necessary. Also, they provide traffic control and safety functions for parades, various Walk-a-thons and other community events through out the year. Additionally they attend various community functions where they hand out safety and crime prevention information and provide fingerprinting for children,

In January of 2008 we started a Volunteer Handicap Parking Enforcement Program along with a Citizen Speed monitoring program.
