Because of the national VIPS Program, the Fairfax County Police Department is able to broaden our base of potential volunteers not only within Northern Virginia but throughout the country by use of the VIPS Website.

Program Description

The Auxiliary unit routinely patrols the communities in Douglas County to check on the residences of people who are on vacation and have asked that their houses be checked during that time. They use surplus patrol cars with markings different from our regular deputy’s cars.   Occasionally they will direct traffic at accidents and planned events. They do a tremendous job for the community at virtually no cost. We provide each volunteer with a uniform.

There is one Auxiliary unit in the Waterville-East Wenatchee area and another that serves the Bridgeport-Mansfield area.
