Because of the national VIPS Program, the Fairfax County Police Department is able to broaden our base of potential volunteers not only within Northern Virginia but throughout the country by use of the VIPS Website.

Program Description

We have a Citizen Corps Council and the Chairperson of VIPS sits on this council. The VIPS Chairperson along with Six District Leaders, a Neighborhood Watch Leader (NW), a Citizen's on Patrol Leader(COP), and a Citizen at Large Leader( drawn from the minority sect of our community) making the VIPS Council. Each District has a NW and COP Representative and thr Districts are divided into areas and each area has a representative that can be contacted. (we have 31 areas in the community). The members of our VIPS take a Citizen Police Academy Training that requires 8-9 Weeks of 3-4 hours per week training in police work. Also we try to cross train everyone in CERT, Fire Corps, NW and COP's.
