Program Description

Our active volunteers work throughout the city of Tyler and within the police department. Volunteers In Policing perform data entry, fleet maintenance, work with officers in the HEAT/VIN registration program and child fingerprinting and help keep our city parks safe through Citizens on Park Patrol. They also augment the police officers through the Citizens Traffic Safety and Accessible Parking Enforcement programs. We have a Parking Lot Patrol/Auto Burglary Report Card aimed at educating the public of how to prevent auto burglaries. Volunteers are also being used make follow-up calls to victims of suspended property crimes in an effort to assist investigators with solving these cases.
