Rutherford County Sheriff's Traffic control is a division of the County Sheriff's Department who handles a wide range of tasks for the county such as Funerals, Car Wrecks, Search & Rescue, Community Events staffed fully by Volunteers.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Traffic Control assists local law enforcement and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with motor vehicle accidents; local fire departments with structure and woods fires or natural disasters; assists with securing crime scenes; helps with county events for many organizations and private groups with parking, traffic control or security; assists funeral homes with parking and traffic control for funeral processions.
RCSTC sets up Community Watch programs; does finger printing of elementary age students for the sheriff's department initiates fundraisers like Bingo or Tag Sales to purchase equipment for the organization.
Originally started with mostly retirees, currently, most RCSTC members have full-time jobs and still continue to volunteer their time.
