Volunteers assist with different assignments throughout the department. Volunteers in our program are involved in many aspects, to include Citizens on Patrol, Boat Patrol, Parking Enforcement, Evidence Handling and Recovery, Advisor to Explorer Post, and Reserve Officer Duties.
We recruit volunteers from the United Way Retired Senior Volunteer Program. We are extremely selective. Volunteers must go through a background investigation. We want to provide the volunteer with a meaningful work experience.
They are doing police work. They are a part of our team. We treat them as if they were employees. They participate in training and day to day operations of the agency. They are extremely loyal and have a strong work ethic.
